This reproduction rear aspherical glass is made specifically for the Canon nFD 85mm f/1.2 L lens. This glass is made to be used in conjunction with the Edmika Simmod Lens nFD to EF Conversion kit.

Use of this glass will not convert your lens to EF. You must purchase the Edmika Simmod EF Conversion kit for the 85mm f/1.2 L to utilize this glass in the conversion.

A note from Ron:
The glass was reverse-engineered from a dozen or so original samples. We could not obtain blueprints from Canon archives, so we had to design the replacement glass through examination and reversal of what was made by Canon. The magnification of the glass is spot on; however, having worked with dozens of these lenses, the coating on each is never the same. There is a lot of inconsistency from lens to lens. Therefore, the coating we applied to our replacement version was a happy median between all of the original samples we worked off. The replacement glass is coated on both sides with multiple layers. The result is as close as we could get to the original. I don’t want to open the floodgates for debate whether it’s the same or how off it is from the original because it’s all relative to only the copy of the lens you are comparing it to. That said, I believe it is the best-last resort if your 85 L has broken glass that is no longer usable.
